The Mackintosh Church ( which is the HQ of The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society ) is a beautiful building rich in symbolism and filled with original works by Mackintosh designed when he was only 28 years old. It’s a ‘must-see’ destination for anyone interested in the architect’s work and is open to the public. The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House – 78 Derngate, Northampton. NN1 1UH.
78 Derngate was the architect’s final major commission and is the only house he designed outside of Scotland.
A small Georgian townhouse dating from c.1815 was remodelled to Mackintosh’s designs by its owner in 1916-17.
The house is a dazzling display of avant-garde design by Mackintosh and is the only place in the world in which his mature architectural style can be seen it its original setting. The shop is located in the adjoining visitor centre which also houses reception, galleries and cafe.  Visiting details.
