About the work
James Watts painted many woodland landscapes, mostly in watercolour. He worked mainly in the North West of England and North Wales and perfected a style of great realism influenced by Pre-Raphaelite ideas. His mastery of technique in capturing the peaceful beauty of woodland scenes is perhaps best shown in November Evening in a Welsh Wood.
