Mackintosh Christmas Card

A beautiful card featuring
 Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s drawing of the Christmas Rose ( Helleborus Niger ).

The sketch is from a collection rediscovered in the National Library of Ireland and was made in Glasgow when Mackintosh was around 25 years old. Throughout his entire life the study and representation of flowers was to be a driving passion and a defining foundation of Mackintosh’s visual language. His genius and skill as a draftsman is evident in the vitality with which he stylishly records the details of the flower during the phases of its development. Mackintosh labelled the drawing ‘Chrismas Rose’. This is one of several examples that have lead some scholars to suggest that the artist showed some signs of dyslexia in his writings.
