A museum – quality fine art giclée print of this powerfully atmospheric work by French artist Félix Buhot.
“Landing in England”, Félix Buhoti. 1879.
This atmospheric Duille fine art print features Landing in England ( Un debarquement en Angleterre ) an etching by French artist Félix Buhot.
Félix Buhot was born in Normandy in 1847. Aged 18 he moved to Paris where within a few years he became a successful etcher and printmaker. He is famed for his depictions of Parisian life and adopted a highly experimental style varying his prints by continually re-working the plates in between impressions.
About the work
Landing in England is based on sketches Buhot made during his second trip to England when he landed at Ramsgate, north of Dover, in September 1879. A somewhat challenging ‘welcome’ to England expresses the power of wind, rain and storm-filled skies. The centrally placed wet dog seen in silhouette is a witty touch perhaps expressing how the artist felt at the time.
The print includes a title inscription and crest by the artist along with his signature.
This is a museum-quality archival print made using materials which will last for many years.
