This premium Duille design features the beautiful pencil and watercolour drawing of Japonica (Chaenomeles speciosa) from 1910 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
The drawing was made at Chiddingstone, Kent whilst Mackintosh was visiting and is one of a series of works made around the same time.
Our card has been reproduced with kind permission directly from the original work held in the collection of The University of Glasgow. It’s full of vivid detail and the plant is drawn in a stylised manner in a form influenced by Japanese prints. Throughout his entire life the study and representation of flowers was to be a driving passion and a defining foundation of the artist’s visual language.
Generously sized, the reverse of the card features further interesting information about the work along with a portrait of the artist.
The quality of the print is so good it could be framed!
